Régis Huiban became a professional musician in 1994 and since that date he makes his accordeon sound in a large number of musical formations, ranging - without being hung up about it - from the Breton public dance to musical shows, from down-to-earth streetmusic to full concerts. With all this rich experience in creation (concerts as well as recordings) he now plays in his own quartet and proposes a - very often astonishing - mix between Breton traditional music and jazz.

The 'world-music' of the Régis Huiban Quartet, on the one hand, pays a tribute to Yves Menez, an innovative accordeon player of the past century, and on the other hand to the singers of Breton music, the transmitters of tradition.

Improvisation is a key word for all the musicians of the quartet. To make sure that no concert sounds the same, that every concert is unique. They even happen to invite other instrumentalists to join them on stage.

What the press writes about the album Sans-sommeil (transl. :without sleep)

Régis Huiban is an accordeon virtuoso who started his carreer playing at public dances and who now plays jazz to spread his wings. He is at his ease playing with paradoxes and puts a universe on the scene that is ethnic as well as universal, rich and moderate, heavy and light. This great album is an event in Breton discography, no matter what kind of music you have in mind.
Michel Baron, Le Télégramme, wednesday magazine - june 2005

Whether as a quartet or a septet, the music Régis Huiban composes reveils - every moment you listen to it - a high inspirational level and opens every door to new experiences. We knew an interpreter, a very skilled accordeon player that uses his firm grip on his accordeon to find irresistable phrasing. But with this realization, this album, we can absolutely say that now 'a star is born'.
Michel Toutous, ArMen, july/august 2005

This kind of music is familiar to us. We can hear the familiar themes. Régis Huiban even puts some of the recordings he made himself of singers in the Pourlet region on his album. However, at the same time, this music is new, original and full of improvisation. The three other musicians (Philippe Gloaguen, guitar - Loïc Larnicol, drums - Julien Le Mentec, string bass) feel absolutely good in this musical melting pot of styles. The only thing left to do : get under the influence. You'll understand, you'll love it.
Jacques Michenaud, Musique Bretonne, may/june 2005

All my congratulations for Régis Huiban. This album is sheer pleasure. This album also shows you that Breton music still thrives. What a splended evolution !
Yann Le Boulanger, Le Poher, june 2005
